The Good Design Store has had a mid winter hibernation due to family commitments of late, but we are underway again with a bit of marketing and with a fresh spark of enthusiasm and inspiration. What gets you inspired to take action on your dreams? For me, it is reading stories of other people following their passions and creating positive change in the World. I love to read autobiographies but I am also a serious magazine hound and voraciously read and collect a huge range of different mags, much to my husband's dismay! The Page and Blackmore bookshop here in Nelson is hard to beat for an incredible range of mags and I can never leave the place without several magazines wrapped up tightly in one of their unassuming brown paper bags.
So to warm your heart during this long, cold winter snuggle up under a blanket on the couch and dig into one of my 5 favourite magazines....
Aah, the humble Good magazine. Home of all things sustainable in good ol NZ. My family know me so well they give me a subscription to this mag for my birthday. Great articles, great recipes and great for finding new, sustainable products.
Many of the products on The Good Design Store website have been sourced through the beautifully styled, carbon neutral pages of Peppermint magazine. This magazine is about style, sustainability and substance and every issue lives up to that mantra.
3. Renegade Collective
If you dream of being an entreprenuer then you need this magazine. Not your average dry, how to type business magazine, Renegade Collective is choc full of creative types from all over the World doing business their own way.
4. Dumbo Feather
The byline says it all - conversations with extraordinary people. This chunky Australian magazine is packed full of question and answer style interviews with the most incredibly interesting people you can imagine. Guaranteed to broaden your horizons and challenge your thinking.
5. Say Yes to Adventure
Hot off the press, this new magazine features some of the best outdoor photography I have ever seen in print. This magazine was started up recently by Kiwi Hollie Woodhouse to raise funds for the charity Running for Rangers, which is aiming to raise funds for the rangers who protect Rhino and Elephants in Kenya. Refreshingly low on advertising and high on inspiration for your next adventure.
